Once the ship embarked, we almost immediately passed under a bridge. There are many bridges that cross the river and it was fun to go under them and to wave at the people above us. Our cruise was on The Spirit of Jefferson, and while smaller than The Belle of Louisville, it was charming, very clean and perfect for our trip. While aboard we enjoyed a delicious lunch, explored the ship and scenery as we passed by the city, under bridges and by historic landmarks. Passengers are encouraged to explore history, the arts and cultural heritage in a way that represents diverse stories and honest experiences. The Belle’s Ballroom Deck is home to many activities, including live music, dancing and dining—in addition to the Concession Stand, Bar and onboard Gift Shop. This deck has seen many changes since the vessel was originally built, including expanding the dance floor and enclosing the outside portion of the deck.

End your evening onboard or start your night out with us– either way, it’s sure to be a special occasion. Moonlight Cruises are two-hour excursions. On this narrated one-hour excursion, learn about the history and founding of Louisville and the significance of riverboats.

A cruise on the Belle is a chance to explore and enjoy a living, operating museum. We do recommend checking the weather before your cruise and dress accordingly. The first floor dinning area had music and a dance floor, and on the top floor you could see into the captains room and watch him steer the ship. The food was delicious and included a wide variety of options to choose from. A few minutes after our departure, we were invited to go to through the lunch buffet. The set up was extremely organized and we were able to easily get food for our family.
